Neighbor & Friend Christmas Gifts: Stovetop Potpourri

This Holiday Season has been especially busy for us. Lots of traveling, family visiting, school and activities etc. And with the hubs starting an MBA, time and helping hands have been scarce. I needed something simple yet thoughtful that I could throw together for the neighbors and friends this year. I thought to myself, who doesn't love walking into a room where something delicious is baking. So I pulled out my Stovetop Potpourri recipe and got to work on a Printable Gift Tag.

The ingredients are so simple and easy to find! You may have several of them already on hand. Once you have everything you need, throw them into a cellophane gift bag. Then tie the gift tag with a lovely ribbon.
 Now for the recipe...
Ingredients:
1 orange sliced (place whole in gift bag)
1-2 cinnamon sticks broken in half
1 teaspoon of whole cloves
1/2 vanilla bean
1 tsp rosemary
1 nutmeg whole

Directions:
Place all ingredients in a small pot.
Add 3 cups of water.
Simmer on low.
Add more water as needed.

Enjoy the lovely smell that will fill your kitchen and home!

Why I swear by Freshly Picked for my babes!

We are so excited to be working with Freshly Picked, an inspiring company that was started by an awesome mama! Freshly Picked has been on our bucket list to work with since the day we discovered their cute moccasins. Yay!
Besides being an amazing company, we also love their product. And by love I mean obsessed!
These amazing shoes were not around for my 1st baby {I'm going on 3 now.} Though if they had been I would have been in trouble because my first child is a girl and I would have splurged on several colors. I think that I would not have been able to resist the pink moccs, or the gold, or the lavender... and so on.
My second child, Brandon, had the chubbiest feet. We simply could not find shoes for him. That's when I discovered Freshly Picked Moccasins and they were life saving for us. They were the only thing that fit his feet. He was 12 month's when he got his first pair.
We recently moved to Utah where it snows. Our 3rd baby, Davis was born in January 2016, just in time for the wintery cold. We have gotten FP Moccs for Baby Davis from day one simply to keep his feet warm. As he has gotten older and started crawling these shoes have protected his little feet from the dragging motion on the harsh ground. Now that he is extremely close to walking, I know that these soft soles will be the perfect protection, but will still let his feet develop and learn to balance.
Why we love Freshly Picked Moccasins... in fact I swear by them!
Versatile: My favorite reason for loving these shoes is because they are so versatile. I can buy just 1 pair of moccasins and they go with everything! They go with a casual look such as a baby onesie and shorts, or they can be dressed up with a bow tie, dress pants and suspenders, or a dress if you have a girl. They look hip while also looking nice!
Easy Peasy: These shoes are so easy to put on and take off. The elastic just expands and adjusts to baby's ankle. The best part is that they stay on and do not fall off. My baby also plays with his feet and tries to pull them off and he can't easily do it. These shoes stay on so well that you can still order them a tad big so that your baby has room to grow.
Comfortable: These shoes are so soft and really just mold to the baby's feet. Even though they are not made to go on a specific foot like most shoes, as baby wears the shoes they get broken in a bit and ends up having the shape of each foot.
Soft and light: When babies are learning to walk and have shoes on, they can be too heavy or clunky. Babies can trip over their own shoes. But these moccasins are so soft and lightweight and don't get in baby's way.
Create a memory: Like I said before, these shoes mold to the baby's feet. When babies walk, the shape of the baby's foot gets molded and etched into the bottom. It's like a little footprint you get to keep forever!
Quality and Durability: These shoes are made of such good quality leather and they don't fall apart. They are worth every penny!
Moon Toy Crib is from Land of Nod. I use it a book shelf in Davis's Nursery. The Alphabet blocks are from Anthropologie. Davis's outfit is from H&M, pants.
This Tan Pair of moccs that Baby Davis is wearing I plan to keep up on a shelf in his nursery for display because they are so darn cute! They will be his first pair he'll walk in so I know I'll get that cute little footprint as a keepsake.

Baby Davis in his "Little Sun Hat"

I have been blessed with the cutest little strawberry blondes with fair skin. I die over their cuteness! What I don't die over are the sunburns they can easily get if I'm not careful. Sunscreen and hats are a must for my littles! How cute is Davis in his "Little Sun Hat?!!!"
I love the classic and timeless style hats by Little Sun Hat. Thier bonnets and caps are just darling and perfect for sitting out on a sunny day! My favorite detail is the tiny plastic clasp that ties the hat under the chin. The hat looks like it's tied on but it's really just buttoned. It keeps that hat on baby's head and I don't have to worry about him tearing it off or it falling off etc.
My Little Sun Hat cap is made of quality cotton that folds down so that I can stick it in my diaper bag and pull it out anytime I find my little Davis boy in need of some shade.

It love that this small business was created by a mother for her little cubs. Being a small business owner myself I love to support other small businesses. Head on over to their website and check out all of their adorable caps and bonnets.

I'd also like to point out that Davis is getting really good at sitting up! He just loves it and I'm proud of the little guy! Go Davis!

Nursing with Harper & Bay

Dresses are my favorite... I love wearing dresses! Especially on sunny summer days! But being in the nursing stage with my new little baby boy, wearing dresses is not exactly allowed. I basically have to stick to skirts and button up shirts to ensure easy access to baby Davis's dinners! {If you know what I mean!} I always face a good nine months to a year where I must avoid dresses completely so that I can nurse my little guy. A sacrifice worth making, obviously! But guess what... it's no longer necessary!
Harper & Bay is a new company started by a mother who recognized a need in women's wear through nursing her two little ones. Harper & Bay designs dresses suitable for nursing. They are functional, versatile and on trend! I had trouble picking just one out because they are all simply darling!
I ended up going with this pretty little white number that has a crop top with a stretchy tank underneath. You simply lift up the top and pull down the tank for easy access to baby's "dinners". You can discreetly feed your baby with ease and without the need of covers.
I love the open back detail and the pockets in the pleated skirt. This dress is made out of a quality and comfy knit that can be dressed up or down.
Other designs have secret zippers and panels that pull open. Genius I tell ya! And it's about time! I'm really impressed with the quality of the dress and extremely grateful for the design which allows me to look cute and still fulfill my motherly duties.
Another aspect of the dress that I love is that there is no need for any kind of cover. The dress itself keeps the goods covered while discreetly feeding the baby. This allows me to have a free hand and be able to tend to my other two littles.
What I love the most though... is that this dress is right on trend with fashion and can be used long after I'm done nursing. Hooray for that!
Nursing is such a wonderful experience that I get to share with my babies. It really is bonding and I love being there for baby Davis as I was for my other two children. Nursing is not always easy, especially when your baby is first born. It takes time to learn and it can be painful. But once you and baby find your groove it really is a blessing for both of you. It's definitely worth it!
Happy Independence Day Weekend!

Hooray Littles - Spring Break with friends

Over spring break we traveled down to California to meet up with some friends who all had babies.  Because we recently moved to Utah my friends hadn't met little Davis and I hadn't met their new babies as well. They all brought their Hooray Littles swaddles along and we had a fun little play date.

From Left to Right: Deb & baby Preston, Amelia & baby Scout, Aubrey & baby Sadie, Ashley & Baby Eleanor, Sandra {me... wink!} and baby Davis.

We watch the older siblings play at the park while us mamas chatted and compared baby stories.
It was so exciting to meet everyone's newest additions and see that they are benefiting from the Hooray Littles swaddle. They use it in their car seat, stroller, bouncer,  and even just in mommie's arms.
It was also fun to see which color swaddle each mom picked for their baby and how they fit different personalities and styles.
It was fun afternoon filled with laughter and happiness! Happy babies = happy mamas! And that is what Hooray Littles is all about!

Candy Cane Lollipops: How to!

It's spring cleaning time and I've been trying to dejunk and organize our house. After cleaning out  my pantry the other day I found 4 boxes of candy canes. Instead of throwing them away I decided to think of some way to put them to good use.
I had this idea to make them into lollipops but wasn't sure if it would work.  Well you can see by the pictures that it did!
My kids seriously thought I was the coolest! And they fully enjoyed their new treat!
What you'll need:
candy canes
skewers or small lollipop sticks
cookie sheet
parchment paper
A couple of tips before you begin:

1. Keep an eye on it because you don't want it to melt too much. You simply want it to be pliable.
2. Only do one candy cane at a time because they cool down quickly.
3. You can use 1 candy cane to make a smaller lollipop, or use 2-3 to make bigger lollipop.
4. If you have broken pieces, use them! They will stick together.

How to:
Pre-heat oven to 275 degrees. Place a piece of parchment paper on a cookie sheet.
Place 1 candy cane on the cookie sheet and place in oven for 3-5 minutes. Take out and slowly bend starting at the top that is already arched. Bend until it creates a spiral and the entire candy cane is wrapped around. While it is still hot, poke a skewer in at the bottom up to the center of the lollipop. Then find a cute little someone to enjoy this yummy treat!
Isn't this so much more fun than just throwing those candy canes away?!!

Baby Davis

Our sweet little Davis was born at the end of January and he has just brought so much love and joy to our family and home. We are all smitten with him!
The delivery was quick and overall an amazing experience. We had our other two kiddos in the waiting room with their grandma and so they were able to come in and meet their new brother almost right away.
He was a big baby, {at least for me} weighing in at 8.4 lbs. and 20 inches in height. His hands and feet were extremely wrinkly which is a sign of him being overdue. So he was more than fully baked!

Davis has red hair just like his big sister Sophie. I thought Sophie's red hair was a bit of a fluke. I guess not! He actually reminds me a lot of her as a baby; in looks and in temperament.
Davis is a good little eater. Nursing has been going smoothly. Yay!

He is the most awake of my babies so far. He loves to look up and look around.

Davis loves to be held. He sleeps like a rock when he's in my arms. I think it's because he's super warm. If he isn't being held for nap time, which is usually the case, he has to be swaddled tightly and then wrapped with another blankie for extra warmth or he won't sleep.

Speaking of warmth, Davis hates to be cold. I think all babies don't like being cold, but he is on another level! He gets super upset, like doesn't breath because he's crying so hard upset!

And just like all babies, Davis smells delicious!
We have had the best time taking care of Davis and it really has been a family effort. Daddy helps a lot with the older kids while I'm nursing and is a pro diaper changer. My older two are the best little helpers! Sophie loves to hold Davis and burp him. Brandon loves to sing Davis songs when he is crying. He is also good at informing me when a diaper change is needed by saying, "the baby is poopie mommy." {I think Brandon has inherited the Sanford heightened sense of smell.} He then runs and gets me a diaper and wipes.

Welcome to the world baby Davis!
And more importantly... Welcome to our family!
We promise to love you, squish you and keep you extra warm!

Fancy Valentine: Free Printable!

Coming up with a Valentine card that fits my kid's personalities is so fun! My daughter loves playing dress up and all things girly and fancy. So something along those lines sounded perfect. Then we found the best deal on candy bracelets at Walmart, 8 for a dollar, and we just had to buy them.
What we came up with is simple but fun! Perfect for my girlie-girl and her friends!

Over the Moon Valentine - Free Printable

My little 3 year old is really into stars. His favorite song is Twinkle Twinkle, his favorite book is Brightest Star. I think you get the picture. He also loves balls of all kinds. So we thought of some fun phrases so go with the moon and planets. Just get bouncy balls that are 1 inch in diameter. You could use gumballs as well if you'd rather give out a treat.
This is Brandon's 1st year of preschool and he feels like such a big boy. He is really excited to hand out Valentine's to his classmates and friends.
